Tax Collector to Host School Supply Drive and Kids ID Events

 

TAMPA, FL. (Aug. 6, 2007) - The Hillsborough County Tax Collector and the Hillsborough County Education Foundation will join forces during August to collect school supplies and promote child safety and identification.  The agencies will sponsor safety demonstrations and drop-off sites for those wishing to donate new school supplies to needy children. The dates and sites include:

 

·        Aug. 9 - The West County Tax Collector’s Office in the Lowe’s/Target Shopping Center at Waters Avenue and the Veteran’s Expressway.

·        Aug. 16 - The North Tampa Tax Collector’s Office at Busch Boulevard and Florida Avenue in the former Floriland Mall.

·        Aug. 24 - The Plant City Tax Collector’s Office at Strawberry Plaza on Jim Redman Parkway.

·        Aug. 29 - The South County Tax Collector’s Office in the SunPoint Shopping Center on College Avenue in Ruskin.

 

Those wishing to just donate supplies can drop them off at any Tax Collector office during August.

 

The scheduled events will include demonstrations and information on child safety by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol.

 

In addition, at the West County, Brandon and South County offices, parents can  get a Florida Children’s Identification Card. It’s a picture identification card for children ages 5 and older. There is an $8.25 charge and parents must present approved forms of identification for the child to obtain a card.
