Westchase VMs Make First Pass at Proposed Westchase Rules Changes

Tampa, FL — March 10, 2022

The Westchase Voting Members’ March 8 meeting tackled a significant review of proposed changes to rules governing Westchase homes and yards.

The meeting opened with a short visit from Hillsborough Tax Collector Nancy Millan. Millan said she was motivated to visit by her experience campaigning for her position. “A lot of people didn’t

know what the Tax Collector did,” she said. After Millan briefly went over the office’s services, involving tax collection (but not property appraisals) and vehicle registration and the issuing of driver’s licenses, birth certificates and hunting and fishing licenses, she received some VM compliments for her office’s services.

VMs then turned to main topic of the two and a half hour meeting: amendments to the association’s Bylaws; Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CCRs); and Residential Guidelines.

The evening’s presentation was led by Document Review Committee Chair Dale Sells, who observed the last rules’ review was completed in 2019. The latest proposed changes, he stated, were compiled from residents’ suggestions, WCA committee requests, the WCA attorney’s advice (seeking to make the WCA documents comply with Florida statute changes) and recommendations from the management team, who have maintained a running list of issues. He added many of the proposed changes were intended to adapt rules to new homeowner tastes or industry materials and to enhance clarity, maintain document consistency and fill gaps.
