Mobile homes are required to be registered with a current decal at all times. If a mobile home has a current registration and also has attachments, it may be subject to tangible personal property taxes which are assessed by the Property Appraiser’s office.
A recreational vehicle is required to have a current license plate properly affixed to the vehicle unless it is taxed as real property. A recreational vehicle can be taxed as real property if the owner of the vehicle is also the owner of the land on which the vehicle is permanently affixed. To declare a recreational vehicle as real property, owners must obtain a form DR-402 from the Property Appraiser’s office.
The license plate on a recreational vehicle expires on the owner’s date of birth annually. The registration fee is based on the length of the recreational vehicle if it is mounted on or drawn by another vehicle and by the weight if it runs on its own power.
If the trailer or recreational vehicle is on a lot in a park, it requires a decal or plate.
